This is an event that the kids look forward to all year long,” said Regina Jackson, Executive Director of EYODC. “They have demonstrated good behavior which is what has qualified them for a place at the table to Shop with a Jock, to shop with their favorite team, The Oakland Raiders, the opportunity to walk side by side, to have some conversations, and to select Christmas gifts for themselves or their family members. It’s a coveted spot at EOYDC.
Raiders linebacker Kamerion Wimbley hosted his “Shop with a Jock” Tuesday at Walmart for 50 children from the East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC). This private event gave homeless, neglected and abused children from the Oakland area a night of fun, filled with food, games, and a $100 shopping spree at Wal-Mart.
Recently, Oakland Raiders LB Kamerion Wimbley spoke to the 7th and 8th grade students of Helms Middle School in San Pablo, Calif., on the importance of education. The students will be moving on to high school, an important part of life that can present many difficult challenges. The school organized a rally in the gym to welcome Wimbley and listen to his positive message.
