In each city, 50 children were selected by local foster homes and youth organizations. EAG worked with Wal-Mart's corporate headquarters and businesses like Subway to raise $5,000 for each city's event. Thanks to the generosity of many, underprivileged kids get a once in-a-lifetime opportunity to go on $100 shopping spree with their favorite athletes, enjoy a free meal and get t-shirts, prizes and photos with the players.

This is an event that the kids look forward to all year long,” said Regina Jackson, Executive Director of EYODC. “They have demonstrated good behavior which is what has qualified them for a place at the table to Shop with a Jock, to shop with their favorite team, The Oakland Raiders, the opportunity to walk side by side, to have some conversations, and to select Christmas gifts for themselves or their family members. Raiders linebacker Kamerion Wimbley hosted his “Shop with a Jock” Tuesday at Walmart for 50 children from the East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC). This private event gave homeless, neglected and abused children from the Oakland area a night of fun, filled with food, games, and a $100 shopping spree at Wal-Mart.
